Daytrana ADHD Patch Medicine

My youngest had an appointment at the doctor's office for ADHD consultation this morning. I told them that my son refused to take his medicine every morning, and I am getting tired of battling...The doctor suggested that if my son was not happy with his medication, he could switch to another one. Then he told me about the patch called "Daytrana ADHD Patch Medicine". It is the first and only patch medicine for ADHD. Off course, I did not know anything about it.
Well, it does say some negative things about the medication just like for any other medications. I feel guilty everytime I give my children their medication...

ADHD Consultation

We had an appointment with my son's doctor. I expressed my concern about morning preparation and evening activity. He suggested some key points to help my boys to release some energy. They can run around the house like three times in the morning and evening. We started the routine a week ago. It is actually helping. My morning chaos is gone! I do not have to get stressed out.
Today was last day for school. I wish I could stay home with them...but somebody has to work. We have planned a few family trip this summer. Starting tomorrow, I will take them to the swimming pool at local YMCA.

ADHD Evaluation

My oldest had a doctor's appointment for ADHD evaluation. They had H1N1 Flu mist available there. So he got one. This is my 10-year-old. His doctor's observation was to keep him on the current medication.
I realized that he has getting upset quickly when he was not on. He gets so dramatic.
He also refuses to take the medicine...I am having hard time. He says he can't have fun when he takes his med...I've been watching him during weekend. He seems to be fine with his med. He still plays with his friends.
I am having some difficulty explaining to him why this med is important to him.

Sugar

While we were staying in Japan, my kids did not have to take any meds. They were not hyper at all. My parents told me not to give my kids any pills...

They ate sweets...a lot of icecreams, cakes, cookies and more. But they did not go wild.

When we got back to U.S., it proved to me that we have much more sugar in everything. My kids started acting wild again after they ate a few cookies and drink a cup of soda.
Wow, what else could it be?

I started re-think about what I had to give them from now on.

No Med

I have not given medication to my boys since they are out of school for the summer. The doctor suggested that it would be OK to keep them on...but I chose not to.
I am trying to see if there is something I can do at home.
I switched all the snack to low sugar or sugar free items. I asked my boys to drink diet or sugar free drink if they want to drink soda or juice. I have about two months to work on...
And I am going to read some books about ADD/ADHD to learn some more.
I feel like I had some of the symptoms when I was a child myself or even now. It will help me to understand myself better, too.

3 Steps To Conquering ADD/ADHD

Has anyone tried "3 Steps To Conquering ADd/ADHD"?
I just found this site today. I wonder if this would work. Please let me know if anyone out there have tried.
My children are on medication...but we would love to find something else.

Dealing with ADHD

My sons are both taking ADHD medication. One thing I noticed is that they were getting wilder when they are not on. My youngest constantly eats all day. I used to give them their medication every day because I did not how to deal with them while I was working on weekends. Well, now I don't work when they are around me.
When I do my part-time gigs, I try to do it at night after they go to bed or when they went to their friends house.
I am learning to juggle my skills.
This week, I did not give them medication at all. They are wide open! But they are boys...I want them to have fun.
